SS385 – Fear Experiment Part 2

Discuss the experience/presentation from class which you responded to most strongly, be it yours or someone else's.

1. What was it and who did it?

The person who’s presentation really stuck me was Sarah’s and what it was like being deaf.

2. Why did you respond to it so strongly?

I think it struck me the hardest out of everyone’s simply because of how scary it was to imagine having to live through that. The thought of falling asleep one night feeling perfectly fine and waking up the next morning to find that your living in a world with no sound would be devastating. While yes i believe that over time you would come to your senses and live on with it for the rest of your life, I feel that so many things would change instantaneously and for me that it would take me a while to process everything that’s about to change.

Another reason why it grabbed my attention was because it was the first time i had ever heard of a story about how someone came to the conclusion that every was not alright from their perspective.

3. How does it impact how you see your own project?

It makes the fear that i presented feel so minuscule and unnecessary to worry about. Her fear was over something that will affect her for the rest of her life unless we happen to make a major technological breakthroughs in science and medicine in the future. Mine was over communication issues that can be resolved by opening up and expressing more about how i feel to others.
